FEEL THE HEAT BIKER CHILI COOK-OFF 3-31-2012

On Saturday, 3-31-2012, the FEEL THE HEAT BIKER CHILI COOK-OFF was held in Wichita Falls Texas at Jaycee Park. Join us for this event and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

At our booth, the GUARDIANS OF THE CHILDREN-RED RIVER CHAPTER, are left to right: Chopper Tim, Tatu and Stitch.
This is Freebird, a member of B.A.C.A (BIKERS AGAINST CHILD ABUSE) and Tatu our National Rep for G.O.C.-Red River Chapter For more on B.A.C.A. and the G.O.C., see these links: http://www.guardiansofthechildren.com/ and http://bacaworld.org/

Tatu is surrounded by the Red River Roller Derby girls. From left to right are: Barbie, Betty Spaghetti, Tatu and Geek Squad. I am not making those names up. Those are their Roller Derby nicknames. Back in the day, the roller derby girls were, shall we say, stout... For more info, see:
www.redriverrollerderby.com

This booth belonged to the Circle K Designer's out of Henrietta Texas.

Bandit relaxing on his Harley. Bandit is the President of the Red River Chapter-G.O.C. He is a riot to be around.
Folks stop by and sample the chili. We were using Cookie's recipe today. Chopper Tim and Stitch are inside serving the folks and Tatu is outside talking to Bandit. Stitch is the Merchandiser for the Red River Chapter-G.O.C.

Here I am with Thor after he returned from Red River Harley Davidson. I had just shaved my beard off and got a hair cut (due to back to back brain farts)  and was in a cast and driving my truck today

Gunner, our Vice President, arrives from Oklahoma, on his Harley

This is Cookie & Chopper Tim. Cookie is the Event Coordinator for the Red River Chapter-G.O.C. and they were instrumental in putting us in the running for the Biker Chili Cook-off championship.

This is Wild Child and Sandman at the B.A.C.A-Wichita Falls Chapter booth

This is Papa relaxing on his bike with Nana sitting next to him. Ms Jo has her back to the camera.

Here is Freebird on his Harley. He hurt his knee when he was in an accident on his other Harley. As usual, someone pulled out in front of him. PEOPLE!! IF YOU DON'T RIDE A MOTORCYCLE AND ARE JUST BROWSING THIS SITE, PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!  WATCH OUT FOR US ON OUR MOTORCYCLES. WE ALL HAVE FAMILY'S TOO. Thanks..

This is the Heavenly Scents booth. They had candles, scented candles, shirts and bling for sale. For more info, see this link: https://www.facebook.com/events/165191973543361/#!/pages/Heavenly-scents-wickless-candles/128196883922150

Tatu on his Harley fixin' to head to work. Tatu is the shop manager at DesignMaster's Tattoo Studio here in Wichita Falls Texas.  Tatu is the artist that does my ink. Go by and see Tatu, Jason or Stone for your ink today. Won't find any better artists within 200 miles of here. And that also goes without saying, Gerald who owns DesignMaster's Tattoo Studio and Screaming Skulls Tattoo Studio, also here in Wichita Falls Texas. for more info, see: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Designmasters-Tattoo-Studio/127607287290509  and : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Designmasters-Tattoo-Studio/127607287290509#!/pages/Screaming-Skull-Tattoo-Studio/206670756083979

Stitch and Thor are busy serving Chili samples to some of the troops from the U.S. Navy detachment located out at Sheppard Air Force Base. They all loved the chili, by the way. For more info, see this link: http://www.sheppard.af.mil/

Chopper Tim is all grins as he take some chili to the judges table for their verdict.

The judges are scrambling to get their table together as the chili samples start to arrive. Cookie  is at the far end of the table checking with the sponsors to make sure we have everything in order.

The bloodmobile from the Southwest Oklahoma Blood Institute was there taking blood donations. They were also giving away a free t-shirt, drink and snack with each donation, so Gunner & I heading on down to give and collect..For more on the Blood Institute, see this link:  http://obi.org/

Inside the bus, you had to sit in a little cubicle to fill out the info required. If you were claustrophobic, you'd have been in trouble because that booth was smaller than the driver's compartment in an APC. Here is Gunner, all crunched up inside.

Here is another view of Gunner in that little cubicle

PaPa in the green t-shirt, stands in front of the B.A.C.A. talking with some of his B.A.C.A brothers and sisters.
Back at our booth, Bandit & Stitch are having a good time enjoying the weather, cook-off and, of course, my company...  lol
You can tell by the way Bandit is looking at me that he is thinking of something along the line of  where he'd like to stick my camera....lol

The results are in..The Guardians of the Children-Red River Chapter won 1st place in People's Choice, 1st place in Mild Chili, 1st place in Biker Organization and 2nd place in Showmanship. From left to right are: Thor, Chopper Tim, Cookie (wearing the 2nd place Showmanship medallion), Gunner (holding the first place cash awards), Stitch, Bandit (holding the 1st place People's Choice trophy) and Snapshot (me) on the end.

Here is Cookie holding the 1st place Mild Chili trophy, wearing the 2nd place Showmanship medallion, holding the 1st place People's Choice Award and with the cash award envelopes on her        chest...All in all, a VERY good day for Cookie. Of course, we knew her chili was going to win because it is that good..

Going back under cover I see Bandit & Stitch doing something. So I walked on over and took a look see.
What the deal was, we were out of containers to take home the left over chili in. So, Bandit improvised and found a bottle. Then he cut a hole in the bottom of a Styrofoam cup and poured chili into the cup, which then went thru the hole and into the bottle. A pure case of Southern ingenuity at its best!!

The cook-off over, Bandit and Gunner, with the help of Stitch and Thor, dismantle the tent.
Getting ready to leave, Bandit gets ready to mount up. Gunner is behind him, putting his equipment onto his bike
All ready to go. Gunner, Chopper Tim and Thor fire up their bikes. AFTER YOU, MR. PRESIDENT!!
Bandit pulls out and the others fall in behind him
Gunner pulling out and begins his 75 mile ride home. Bandit & Stitch are about 55 miles,Thor about 10 miles and Chopper Tim lives here in the City That Faith Built. Cookie is about 25 miles or so from here and in here SUV. She had that thing packed to the max when she left here, as did Stitch in her vehicle.
Chopper Tim heads out. He told me that bike has a 111 cu. in. motor or about 1819 cc.
And Thor is the last bike from our contingent to leave, seen here pulling in behind Chopper Tim. And this will conclude this post.

I had a great time today being with my brothers & sisters of the Guardians Of The Children-Red River Chapter and it was great, as always, to see Freebird, NaNa  & PaPa and meeting the other folks in B.A.C.A.-Wichita Falls Chapter. We may all be in different clubs but it was our love for motorcycles and riding that got us to where we are today and in that sense, we are ALL brothers and sisters in the wind.

SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE RIDES,RUNS AND EVENTS AND DON'T FORGET TO CLICK ON THE " OLDER POSTS" LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF EACH PAGE FOR MORE OF THE SAME.

Please continue to pray for ALL of our troops both in and out of harm's way especially for: JOSHUA PORTER (USN) JAPAN, PATTI JACKSON (USAF) QATAR THEATRE OF OPERATIONS, and MICHAEL RYCKOFF(USAF) KOREAN THEATRE OF OPERATIONS. YOUR PRAYER MIGHT JUST BE THE ONE THAT SAVES THE LIFE OF ONE OF OUR TROOPS.

UNTIL THE NEXT POST, YA'LL BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, KEEP THE RUBBER ON THE ROAD, KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL ...............................RIDE FREE & RIDE SAFE!! .....................JOHN

HERE IS MY HERITAGE AND THE SEATS WE WERE GOING TO RUN BACK UP TO PROTEAM HARLEY DAVIDSON. I BUNGEED THE PASSENGER SEAT TO MY BACK REST AND PUT THE RIDERS BACK REST TO THE TOURING SEAT INTO ONE OF THE SADDLEBAGS. DAVID BUNGEED THE LARGER RIDERS SEAT ONTO THE TOURING TRUNK ON HIS GOLDWING.
HERE IS MY NEW 2012 HARLEY HERITAGE STC IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. WHEN I FIRST SAT ON IT IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF PROTEAM, IT FELT LIKE IT FELT WHEN I SAT ON THAT 2001 HERITAGE I HAD HAD PREVIOUSLY. IT FELT LIKE IT HAD MY NAME WRITTEN ALL OVER IT AND I KNEW NOW, LIKE I KNEW BACK IN 2009 WHEN I BOUGHT THE 2001, THAT THIS 2012 WAS MINE BECAUSE IT FIT ME SO WELL LIKE I WAS PART OF THE BIKE AND NOT SITTING ON TOP OF THE BIKE LIKE THE ROAD KING.
A PICTURE OF THE DERBY COVER. 103 CU. IN. IS APPROXIMATELY 1688 cc.
THE METAL PLATE ON THE GAS TANK
THE AIR BREATHER
THE BUTT END OF THE HERITAGE. AFTER RUNNING VANCE & HINES SHORTS ON THE OTHER HERITAGE AND VANCE & HINES HIGH PERFORMANCE LONG SHOTS ON THE ROAD KING, THE STOCK PIPES ON THE NEW BIKE ARE SO QUIET OR SEEM TO ME TO BE QUIET, THAT IT'S LIKE RIDING A STEALTH BIKE. HECK, I WAS RIDING BEHIND DAVID A FEW TIMES AND HIS GOLDWING DROWNED OUT MY PIPES AND WE KNOW HOW QUIET GOLDWING'S ARE..
HERE ARE ALAN & DAVID BEHIND ME ON BARNETT RD AS WE LEAVE MY PLACE AND HEAD UP TO LAWTON OKLAHOMA
HERE IS DAVID AS WE HEAD EAST ON US 82 (KELL FRWY) TO  I-44.

HERE IS ALAN ON HIS 99 HARLEY ULTRA CLASSIC. HIS BIKE IS SO CLEAN, IT LOOKS LIKE IT JUST ROLLED OUT OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. ALAN WILL TELL YOU THAT THE ULTRA HAS NEVER LET HIM DOWN.
HERE ARE DAVID & ALAN AS WE HEAD UP AND OVER THE "FLY OVER" THAT WAS BUILT BACK IN 2002 OR 2003
WE START DOWN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE OVERPASS. DAVID & ALAN HAD TO SLOW WAY DOWN BECAUSE THE CAR IN FRONT OF US WAS POKING ALONG AT ABOUT 30 MPH OR SO. THAT IS DOWNTOWN WICHITA FALLS TEXAS  IN THE UPPER LEFT PORTION OF THE PICTURE
HERE IS WHERE US 82 MERGES WITH US 287 UP ON THE OVERPASSES. WE ARE STILL BEHIND THAT CADILLAC. BUT IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE CADDY WOULD BE HISTORY BEHIND US...
HERE ARE ALAN & DAVID AS WE HEAD NORTH ON I-44. THE TOWN WE ARE APPROACHING IS BURKBURNETT TEXAS.
APPARENTLY THE CAMERA INADVERTANTLY CLICKED AS I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING THE CAMERA BACK IN MY CUP HOLDER. I THOUGHT THE PIC THAT WAS TAKEN OF ONE OF MY VEST EXPANDERS WAS UNIQUE LOOKING, SO HERE IT IS..
WE ARE NOW LEAVING BURKBURNETT TEXAS AND APPROACHING THE RED RIVER BRIDGE. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRIDGE IS OKLAHOMA..
HERE IS DAVID AS WE CROSS THE RED RIVER BRIDGE HEADING FOR OKLAHOMA
THE RED RIVER IS EXTREMELY LOW. BUT I HAVE SEEN THE WATERS SO HIGH THAT THEY LAP AT THE UNDERSTRUCTURE OF THE BRIDGE JUST UNDER THE ROAD WAY..

WE STOP AT JOHNNY'S (CLOSED A WHILE BACK) AT I-44/US 70 FOR A QUICK BREAK. HERE IS ALAN.
HERE IS DAVID AT JOHNNY'S CORNER (I-44/US70) AFTER WE STOPPED FOR A QUICK BREAK.
WE WILL LEAVE AS SOON AS I GET TO MY  BIKE. WE WILL TAKE BUSINESS 287/277 TO AVOID THE TOLL BOOTH ON I-44.  WE WILL GET BACK ON I-44 IN ABOUT 5 MILES OR SO.
