A FEW DAYS IN FEBRUARY 2012 2-24-12

Things have been kind of slow around here, as far as I go. But, I did putt around town on the Harley a couple times from Feb 22-Feb 24 and I made a run up to Ryan Oklahoma to see Bandit but only got pictures of the Ryan sign and the Welcome to Texas sign on the way back. So I figured "what the heck" and decided to do this post on A FEW DAYS IN FEBRUARY 2012.
Scroll down and check out this short post and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE..

On Wednesday  2-22-2012, I rode out to Red River Harley Davidson here in Wichita Falls Texas and contemplated trading my 06 Road King in for this 06 Heritage Softail with only 7,000 miles on it. My bike has 17,000+ miles on it and it would've been almost an even swap, but I lacked the 10% down fee that the Harley Davidson Motor Company requires on all new or
used bikes purchased, so I am just going to keep the Road King a few more years.

Another view of the 06 Harley Heritage Softail I really wanted. Oh                well....

Here is the hard working Motor Clothes & Accessories Manager, Amber, talking to a customer on the phone.

The next bunch of pictures are of the new 2012 Harley Davidson's on the showroom floor at Red River Harley Davidson. For more info on the dealership, see this link: http://www.redriverharley-davidson.com/

I look at all the bikes available and I think back several years ago when you had to wait up to a year to get a new Harley and the prices of the used bikes were ungodly. Typical example of supply & demand.

This is a very good looking Harley trike. Janice (my wife) says if I really want her to ride with me, I'd buy a trike and she'd ride every time I went out. Unfortunately for Janice, I want her to ride with me on two wheels not three. While the trikes are good looking and I have nothing but respect for those who like them, buy them and ride them, I, personally, have zero desire to buy one, have one given to me or ride one. I don't care for them right now. Maybe in 20 years when I am 80, I might consider it, IF, I can no longer ride two wheeled Harley's, but even then, I seriously doubt it. The guys and gals that I know that ride them, have nothing but good to say about them.

More of the bikes on the showroom floor.

Another hard working member of the staff is Ed, pictured here at the parts desk. I have known Ed about 3 years and I have never seen him with a frown or a scowl on his face and he never is in a bad mood when I have seen him at work. He is a very professional parts man, knows his job and Harley's inside out and he promotes Harley Davidson's. It's not a mere job with Ed but a lifestyle and Red River Harley Davidson should be very glad he works for them because "he does them very good", as the saying goes.

Parked outside are my Red Road King and J.T's black Road King. J.T. is the Treasurer for the Blue Knights TX XX LE MC. He was in looking at the Limited Edition Ultra Classics. I am a member of several groups and I was just appointed Secretary for the Blue Knights TX XX LE MC. Check out the web site at:  www.blueknightstxxx.com

Another view of my bike outside in the parking lot of Red River Harley Davidson.

More bikes inside on the showroom floor.

This is Darren. He works at the parts counter and we got to talking and I found out that I have never introduced him or had ever put a picture of him on any of the North Texas Biker blogs. I told him that I would take care of that, so, if you stop at RED RIVER HARLEY DAVIDSON here in Wichita Falls Texas, be sure to stop by the parts counter and say hi to him. Darren knows those Harley's inside out and he can help you with out with any parts or accessories you may be looking for.
This is Charlie. You long time viewers should recognize Charlie from the Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch  posts. When Four Stars closed down the Motorcycle Ranch, RED RIVER HARLEY DAVIDSON took Charlie in as part of the Motor Sales team. If you are looking to buy a new or used Harley, go see Charlie and he will help you out. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Harley's and will answer any questions you may have about them.

This is Greg and Flip. Greg is a long time friend of mine and a former coworker . He now runs the , RIDER'S EDGE PROGRAM & RENTALS at RED RIVER HARLEY DAVIDSON. I f you want to learn how to ride a motorcycle or take an intermediate or advanced riding course, then Greg's the man to see and he'll fix you up with what you need. Flip is a good friend and he is into the IBA (Iron Butt Association) rides. I have made many rides that would entitle me to several different IBA awards, but I never joined IBA, but I plan on making several more, with Flip, and getting the IBA awards. For more on the IBA, see this link: http://ironbutt.com/about/default.cfm
Flip & I. Flip is also an Emergency Room RN at United Regional  Health Care Services 11th Street Campus Hospital, here in Wichita Falls Texas and was on duty when I had the motorcycle accident back on June 30, 2011. There is no better feeling, when you are in a lot of pain and when the ambulance crew wheels you into the ER, you see a friend, riding buddy and one of the most competent RN's in the area, standing there, concerned and ready to take great care  of you. I am extremely lucky to have Flip as a friend.  Flip, You da man!!!!! For more on URHCS here in Wichita Falls, see this link: http://www.unitedregional.org/

As I was getting ready to head to my next destination, I took this picture of the RED RIVER HARLEY DAVIDSON building with some of the used bikes parked outside that are for sale.

On Thursday 2-23-2012, I drove out to DesignMasters Tattoo Studio  here in Wichita Falls Texas, to have my PGR tattoo touched up.  I put Aquaphor ointment on it as recommended and then put on a long sleeve Harley T-shirt. Long story short, it stuck to my shirt and instead of going home and putting warm water on the shirt and lifted the shirt off the tattoo with no damage, I ripped the shirt off and it tore the color off and I bled like a stuck pig. ANYHOW, that is Jason in the picture and he is another professional tattoo artist and he does outstanding portrait work.

Here is the touched up PGR ink on my right forearm. I let Tony (TATU) do all my ink and he will not let me live down ripping that sleeve off and screwing up the tattoo.

This is Ashtan. She came to DesignMasters to get the date of birth, of her brother James, put on her right shoulder. TATU did the work and here is the DOB on her right shoulder.

On her left shoulder, Ashtan, wanted the date that James died. He died in an accident, I believe she said in Snyder Texas. Here TATU begins to do the ink work.

And this is the finished ink on Ashtan's left shoulder.

This is Ashtan and TATU when the ink work was finished. The next thing she wants done is to have Jason do a portrait of her brother James on the inside of her left forearm.
Here is Jason at his work station talking to TATU and Ashtan about the portrait work she will want done. For more info on the DESIGNMASTERS TATTOO STUDIO, see this link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Designmasters-Tattoo-Studio/127607287290509
QWERTYTECH. For more info on Matt's business and some examples of some business web pages he does, see this link: http://www.facebook.com/qwertytech. Here is the Ryan Oklahoma sign off of US 81 by the football field.
As I kept the camera in my pocket for this trip, I only got two pictures on the road and zero at Bandit's. I had a major brain fart today and did not live up to my road name of SNAPSHOT. So the last picture of this post and the second picture of today's ride, is of the welcome back to Texas sign on TX 79 just South of the Red River.

Even tho it was a solo ride, I had a good time. I fought a strong headwind out of the North going up, but had the same North wind as a tailwind coming home so it was an enjoyable ride all around. Plus. it is always good to see and talk to Bandit. He has some kewl stories and I like to listen to him tell them. I look forward to the next ride whenever it occurs and wherever the road takes me & the Harley.

LAST RIDE FOR JANUARY, 2012 1-31-2012

Tuesday, 1-31-2012, David, John, Tony and I got together and went on our last ride of January 2012. Scroll down and join us on this ride and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

I rode over to David's house to pick up David & John. Here is David getting
ready to get on his bike. David rides a 2006 (I think) Honda Goldwing. for more info on the 2006 Goldwing,  check out this link:                                       http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/honda/2006-honda-goldwing-1048.html

Here is John by his 2011 Road King. John just got over a serious motorcycle accident and this is the bike he bought to replace his wrecked Harley. For more info on the 2011 Harley Road King, check out this link: http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/road-king.html

This is my 06 Harley Road King that I bought off one of my friends and former co-worker. He blew out several discs in his back and can't ride anymore. As I had just been in an accident a few weeks before (6-30-2011) and totalled out my Harley, and  Steve made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I bought his bike as a replacement for my wrecked bike. I had named the wrecked Harley, S.O. for my Significant Other. This bike I now call "The Redhead".  lol!  For more on the 2006 Harley Road King, see this link: www.motorcycle.com/specs/harley-davidson/touring/2006/road-king-reg/classic.html

John is saddled up and ready to go.
Here is David rolling down Kell Freeway (US 82) as we head to Red River Harley Davidson to pick Tony up some spark plugs for his bike.
Here is John as we roll down  Kell Freeway (US82)

Here are David & John at Red River Harley Davidson. Both are doing their bad boy pose.
David cuts up with Ed as Ed rings up the spark plugs for Tony.

As we continued up to Byers, I had to pull over and get the camera out of my pants pocket. I always put it in my drink holder on the left handlebar so I have easy access to it while rolling down the highway. David got this picture of me right before we headed back up TX 79.
David took this  picture of me a short time later on TX 79. We then pulled next to each other and he handed the camera back to me. Pretty good trick to do at 70 mph. And, no, I did not drop the camera.
Here is John behind me on TX 79.

You can tell by his grin that David is enjoying the ride, as we all were.
Here is David as he passes me on TX 79.

John passes me and that is David up front.
You can also tell by John's grin the he is enjoying the ride. That grin, I might add, is just about universal among bikers..If you ride you know, if you don't ride or have never ridden, then you are missing one of the greatest pleasures you can have while here on Earth. And yes, I know about the pleasures of sex, love of your kids, family, grand kids etc. But riding a bike is right up there with them. IMHO, of course...
I get back in front of John and take this shot over my left shoulder

We get up to Tony's place and here he is putting his plugs in the Harley while John & David talk and look on.
Here is a picture of John's bike and that is Tina's (Tony's wife) bike parked up by the house.
Plugs in, Tony puts his tool kit back in order before we head up North to Oklahoma and the Casino's.
Here is Tony as we head North on TX 79.

Here are David & John in front of me as I  take the picture thru my nasty, bug encrusted windshield.
Here is a shot of my Harley's speedometer and we were cruising along a little over 70 mph.

Here is Tony behind me now on TX 79.
We head across the Red River Bridge and into Oklahoma on the other side of the river.
David up front followed by John, Tony and me bringing up the rear.

David pulls over for a quick "relief" break and left to right are: John, David and Tony.

Tony and I on the rest break somewhere on US 70 in Oklahoma.
John at the rest/relief stop.
Tony just traded his Road King for this Ultra Classic and he hates this Eagle on the fairing of his bike. He is going to get it buffed off as soon as he can.

One more of me, David & Tony in Oklahoma. Tony and I are members of the GUARDIAN'S OF THE CHILDREN-RED RIVER CHAPTER. Tony is also our National Rep. We are wearing our colors/vests/cuts. http://www.guardiansofthechildren.com/AboutUs.htm
Tony had this bolt stuck in his sidewall of his rear tire on a ride awhile back. He carries it with him whenever he is on his bike and shows it to the non-believers of his story.

Back Westbound on US 70 in Oklahoma. Here is a picture of Tony.
We get to the COMANCHE RED RIVER CASINO in Devol, Oklahoma and park our bikes in the parking lot.
The bikes parked in the parking lot of the COMANCHE NATION RED RIVER CASINO. See this link for more on the Casino: http://www.comanchenationcasinos.com/red-river/index.html
Last picture from today is of Tony's bike out in the parking lot. For those of you who are not familiar with Casino's, you CANNOT take any pictures inside one. I have been to the casino's in Las Vegas, Kansas City and Oklahoma and that holds true for all of them. So, having only $6.00 on me and I needed some gas in the Harley to get home, I stayed about 20 minutes and watch Tony win $150 at the black jack table in that 20 minutes and then I headed back to Texas.

I enjoyed riding with the guys and I look forward to our next ride whenever it occurs and wherever the road takes us.
