SPENDING TIME AT DESIGNMASTER'S TATTOO 12-21-11

On Wednesday. 12-21-11, I rode the Harley down to see TATU at Designmasters Tattoo Studio here in Wichita Falls Texas. After calling TATU first, he told me that GUNNER and his son Joshua were heading down to the Studio from Lawton Oklahoma. This is the studio building. Joshua's truck is the white truck and TATU's is the silver truck.

This GUNNER and his son, Joshua. Joshua is home on leave from he US NAVY and is assigned to a Nimitz class aircraft carrier. His next port of call is Japan. And girls, Joshua is single... This is Jason, one of the other artists at Designmasters Tattoo Studio. I have watched Jason work and he is very, very good. Plus he is an interesting guy to talk to. He makes my visits extra enjoyable. Plus, he allows me to take pics of him applying ink.

This is the screen saver on TATU's computer. It's either his computer or the studio's computer.

Lubriderm Lotion is what you put on your tattoo to keep it from drying out and cracking. You use this AFTER the initial period when you get your tattoo. Immediately after, you put Aquafor on it to help with the healing and irritation to the skin that getting ink causes.

This stuffed bobcat with the reading glasses gets a laugh out of most customers.

Jason was working on the lady, seen here in the sweats. She was getting a design on her right side to her hip. Since it was rather large, Jason was letting her get up and stretch before continuing

Joshua is ready and Tatu applies the outline to Joshua's left upper arm. (THE REMAINING PHOTO'S WERE TAKEN BY GUNNER AND SENT TO ME WITH HIS PERMISSION TO USE THEM TO FINISH THIS POST). I had to leave to take care of some family business and could not take any more photos for this post. Thanks GUNNER!!

RED RIVER HARLEY DAVIDSON 12-16-2011

Yesterday, Friday, 12-16-2011, I finally got on the Harley and rode out to Red River Harley Davidson, here in Wichita Falls, Texas. I hadn't been to the dealership or ridden the Harley since 8-26-2011 due to a surgery and it sure felt good to ride the bike and see the folks again down at RRHD, even if it was a short ride (18 miles round trip) and a short visit. Looking at the Red River Harley Davidson "Pegasus" out in front of the dealership. Many businesses have purchased the horse sculptures from the Mane Event as part of an advertising gimmick. This is Terri and that's Darren in the background. They work the Parts & Accessories. Terri also does an outstanding job at sewing patches onto vests and vest alterations.

Here is Charlie hard at work. Most of you regular viewers will remember Charlie as the Manager of Four Stars Motorcycle Ranch in Henrietta Texas. Charlie moved to RED RIVER HARLEY DAVIDSON when Four Stars Auto Ranch shut down the Motorcycle Ranch.

Here is the 8 in 1 Harley Screwdriver set that I got. I needed the star shaped end so I can tighten up any loose bolts on the Harley. I found out an Allen wrench doesn't hack the program.

RRHD currently has a rack of brand new t-shirts with sizes ranging from small to 5x, for $13 plus chump change for tax. Here is the front of one I bought

And here is the front of the other one I got today. Tell ya what, these shirts usually run $25 or more at Harley dealerships and to find them at $13 is a real deal. I plan on getting a couple more.

After paying for my stuff and saying good-bye to my friends there, I headed out to the bike to head to the house., Here is a pic of my Harley Road King parked out in the parking lot. All the other bikes you see are the used big Harley cruisers they have for sales. The Dyna's, Heritages , Sportsters and others are also parked out front and wrap around the East side of the building. So, if you're looking for a new or used Harley, RRHD is the place to go because they have plenty of both.

I enjoyed riding the bike today and seeing all the folks at RRHD and I look forward to going there again real soon.

AS I WAITED AND TALKED TO TONY, STEVE CAME IN AND WANTED TONY TO DO SOME LETTERING ON HIS ARM. WHEN I SAW HIS INK WAS GOING TO BE "GATTIS" I TOLD HIM I HAD SEEN THAT BEFORE ON SOMEONE EITHER HERE AT THE SHOP OR OUT AND ABOUT. HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS PROBABLY HIS SON.

HERE IS STEVE WITH THE LETTERS STENCILED ON HIS ARM. I HAD TO LEAVE AND DRIVE UP TO IOWA PARK TEXAS AND MEET JANICE, OUR DAUGHTER AMY & OUR GRANDSON, KYLE, AT THE HIGHWAY GRILL FOR DINNER. AS A RESULT, I DID NOT GET ANY PICTURES OF TONY WORKING ON STEVE'S ARM..

HERE IS OUR GRANDSON KYLE, ZONKED OUT AND CATCHING A FEW Z'S IN THE RESTAURANT. HE IS 3 WEEKS OLD TODAY..

AFTER DINNER, I WENT BACK TO DESIGNMASTERS TATTOO STUDIO AND STEVE HAD GONE. TONY DREW UP THE TATTOO AND PUT THE OUTLINE ON MY ARM. IT WILL BE COLORED IN LIKE THE TEXAS FLAG WITH WICHITA FALLS RUNNING ACROSS THE TOP IN AN ARC.

AND HERE IS TONY WORKING ON THE OUTLINE.

HERE IS TONY WORKING ON THE LETTERING. THEY SAY THE INSIDE PART OF YOUR ARM IS SENSITIVE. THEY ARE RIGHT BUT IT WAS ONLY A STINGING SENSATION WITH NO REAL PAIN TO TALK ABOUT. SO IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT PAIN, THERE ARE SOME PLACES ON THE BODY THAT FOLKS GET TATTOOED, THAT IF I WERE TO GET ONE IN THE SAME PLACE, I'D BE HOWLING AT THE MOON. BUT, KEEP IN MIND, EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT TOLERANCE FOR PAIN. I HAVE TATTOO'S ON BOTH ARMS AND MY CHEST AND NONE HURT WHEN I GOT THEM. JUST A LITTLE STINGING. I WOULD ALSO HAVE TO SAY IT IS ALSO THE EQUIPMENT AND ARTIST AND HOW HE ACTUALLY DOES THE TATTOO THAT REALLY DETERMINES WHETHER YOU HURT OR NOT. TONY USES GOOD EQUIPMENT AND KEEPS HIS EQUIPMENT STERILE. PLUS, HE HAS BEEN DOING TATTOO'S FOR A LONG TIME AND HE ISN'T ROUGH OR CLUMSY AND DOES NOT USE A LOT OF NOTICEABLE PRESSURE LIKE SOME DO AND THAT IS WHERE YOU BLEED AND HURT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TONY AS THE MAN TO USE IN THE WICHITA FALLS AREA FOR YOUR INK NEEDS. AND IF HE IS ON DAYS OFF, I RECOMMEND ANY OF THE OTHERS AT DESIGNMASTERS. ALL DO EXCEPTIONAL JOBS AND THIS INCLUDES: GERALD, JASON AND STONE.. TO BE HONEST, I CAN'T SAY AYE OR NAY ABOUT SEAN YET BECAUSE I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF HIS WORK. BUT, GERALD WOULD NOT HIRE ANYONE THAT WOULD GIVE A NEGATIVE OUTLOOK ON THE BUSINESS.

HERE IS THE TATTOO COVERED OVER AFTER THE OINTMENT/SALVE WAS APPLIED. I WAS TO REMOVE IT IN A COUPLE OF HOURS AND THEN USE AND PUT AQUAPHOR HEALING OINTMENT ON THE INK 3-4 TIMES A DAY.

BILL'S 52' BSA "GOLDEN FLASH" BOBBER 11-30-11

EVERY YEAR I TRY TO RIDE THE BIKE OUT TO TUCSON ARIZONA AND VISIT MY BEST FRIEND, BILL, WHO I MET AT SHAW AFB, SOUTH CAROLINA WHERE I WAS SENT TDY FROM GEORGIA. WE BOTH WERE THEN SHIPPED OVERSEAS TO THAILAND, TO A          SUPPORT BASE, DURING THE VIETNAM WAR WINDDOWN. WE BOTH LOVE                      MOTORCYCLES AND RIDING AND THAT HAS KEPT THIS FRIENDSHIP TOGETHER FOR ALMOST 40 YEARS OR SO.
