MY NEW MOTORCYCLE 7-4-2011

As most of you know, I totaled out my 2001 Heritage STC on June 30, 2011 when the front tire blew out on my way home from Oklahoma. I was going to wait until April 2012 to get another bike at the request of Janice, my wife. Unknown to us at the time, one of the Wichita Falls police officers had a 2006 Harley Road King Custom for sale and when he called me and told me about it, it was Janice that said to see if I could get it now. On August 3, 2011 straight up at noon, I became the proud owner of that bike. Scroll down and check the bike out and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

This is my new bike. She is a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King Custom. It is an 88 cu. in motor with EFI (thank GOD). Until you've had an EFI and then go back to carburetion, you don't realize how much better the EFI (electronic fuel injection) is.

The bike in it's parking slot in my garage.

Outside on the drive way. I know that rider backrest is a must for comfort, I took it off because I felt as though I was sitting on the gas tank. Janice does like the passenger backrest and seat..

The Road King signature on the front fender.

The Harley Davidson signature on the gas tank.

The bike has the Harley Skull package on it. Everything has the skull on it: point cover, air breather, foot boards (front and passenger)....

The back of the bike. This Harley has the round tubing on the luggage rack so now I can get a PGR flag and U.S flag (small flags) and attach them to it. I was unable to have flags on the Heritage due to the square tubing on the luggage rack and I could only find one business around here that carried them, at $45 apiece for the hardware. When I finally decided to get a couple attachments, the business went out of business, so that was that.

The left side of the bike. The original owner had chrome all over it. And the red paint is a metal flake and is pretty good looking in the sunlight.

The derby cover, road pegs, and bottom of the passenger footboards all have the skulls on them

The front of the bike. Even the rims on the headlight and running light have the skulls. Looks pretty kewl. It will go with the new ink I'll be getting from TATU, at DesignMasters Tattoo Studio here in Wichita Falls Texas. If you are ever in the area and want a tattoo that looks good and is done professionally, stop by DesignMasters Tattoo Studio at 3502-B Sheppard Access Rd. and see Gerald, Tatu, Stone or Jason and they will work with you on your desired design. Also, stop in and talk to Gerald & Lisa, owners of the studio, and they can answer any questions you may have about tattooing.

Last picture of this post is of the speedometer & odometer showing the mileage at time of purchase:  15,974.

It is great to have another bike. It has been a long 33 days. But the arm is pretty much healed up and they will be doing surgery on my right foot Aug. 26, 2011 but the down time for healing on this operation is 2-3 weeks. They have to remove a broken rod & some bone that broke off with the rod during the accident. I'll take 3 weeks over 3 months anytime!!!

Continue to pray for ALL of our troops both in and out of Harms Way; especially for Che Whitaker, Chris Drage and Fred Hughes, all of whom are serving in the Afghanistan Theatre of Operations and  for Pattie Jackson who has been deployed to Qatar..

Until next post, ya'll be careful out there, keep the rubber on the road, keep your head on a swivel, and most importantly of all.............................RIDE SAFE.......................JOHN

  1. Your Harley Davidson looks awesome! The classic, muscular look of the Harley is always one that deserves admiration. May dad has been thinking of buying one for years already! The bike still looks good, even though it's a second hand vehicle. I'm happy for you! Keep us posted! :D

  2. Harley Davison never fails to provide motorcycle enthusiasts the most extraordinary bikes. This Road King Custom is indeed attractive, and I believe it has the ability to catch everyone’s attention every time it gets on the road. Do you still have it, my friend? I hope you still do, and if so, then I bet it’s still in its best condition. It’s because HD motorcycles are most guaranteed by their durability and good quality. =)

  3. The motorcycle still looks brand new! Looks like it wasn’t used much by the previous owner. It was meticulously taken care of. You can tell from its silver exterior sparkling under the sun.
